Technology Education

Nothing excites and engages students more than learning modern technologies. In this process they will also understand how the discoveries in basic sciences and progress in mathematics have fueled technological progress. We bring in technology education to school children in the following ways.

Programming with MIT Scratch

Students selected for our talent mentoring scheme, who are trained in rigorous logical and structured thinking, are introduced to computing. Programming is first introduced through flow-charts and pseudo code, and soon the students are introduced to MIT Scratch. The ease with which these students learn programming is simply amazing. Students have developed word puzzle games, tic tac toe and the 15-puzzle game.

Website Design and Development

Students are also trained on basic Website design and development. In fact, this Website of RCF has been developed (with assistance) by our students as part of this learning exercise!

Presentations on Modern Technologies

Several presentations and video sessions are conducted to give the students an idea of various technologies and inspire them. Following are some of the topics on which such presentations/video sessions have been made.

  • Mars and Moon missions
  • VLSI Chip Fabrication
  • Robotics
  • Google Maps and Search
  • Autonomous Vehicles
  • Conveyor screws and their Design

Basic Computer Application Skills

At the RCF Computer Lab established in the GKHPS Mahantesh Nagar, we run a basic computer applications training program, which reaches to more than 300 students from 8 government schools in the Mahantesh Nagar cluster. Students from 6th to 9th grade with no prior exposure to computers are trained on basics of computers, creating richly formatted documents, typing Kannada, Excel and usage of the Internet.
